Seen for miles, the U.S. Customs surveillance radar blimp scans the U.S.-Mexican international border. Aerostats are positioned along the border from Texas to California to monitor air traffic.

- Deming Customs House
A small adobe-walled room in the Seaman Fields' home is believed to be the first Custom Office for the Mexican border. Located across the street from the Mimbres Museum, the Custom House was one of the oldest residences in Deming and portrays gracious living by early pioneer families.

- Deming Luna County Mimbres Museum
Located in the 1916 red-brick National Guard Armory building, the Deming Luna County Mimbres Museum has about 25,000 square feet of exhibition space. The visitor will find a bit of everything here including a Military Room, the Quilt Room, the Doll Room and the Tack Room. The museum also tells of life in the Southwest, showing a Mimbres Room that showcases prehistoric Mimbreno pottery.

- Deming Visitors' Center
Visitors' Center is in a replica of an early train depot. A vintage steam locomotive, boxcars, and caboose are there for kids to enjoy.

- Florida Mountains
Florida Mountains "Floor-EE-dah", named, by early Spanish traders who passed this way, for the abundance of wild flowers covering their rugged peaks and "arroyos."

- Fort Cummings
Found in the foothills of Cooke’s Peak, Fort Cummings, manned by Buffalo Soldiers, was the location of several Indian raids. The adobe and wood fort was located next to Cooke's Spring.

- Mimbres Paquime Tour
Here's the opportunity to do an international tour. From Casas Grandes, Madera and Janos in Old Mexico, you pass through the Palomas, Mex./Columbus, NM port of entry. Then visit in Deming. Continuing north past the City of Rocks State Park to Silver City, motor north to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. From Silver City turn south to Lordsburg and its ghost towns of Shakespeare and Steins.
The international loop tour traces the relationship of prehistoric man from the Paquime Ruins in Casas Grandes north to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Apache warriors traversed the same area and today many ties link both sides of the border.

- Mimbres River and Mimbres Valley
The Mimbres starts in the Gila National Forest near Wall Lake flowing south. It goes underground for most of the year near the City of Rocks, through Deming and emptying south of the border into Mexico.

- Pancho Villa State Park
Made famous by the raids of Francisco Pancho Villa this park is home to one of the most spectacular desert botanical gardens in the southwest. In the early morning of March 9, 1916, guerrillas of the Mexican Revolution under Gen. Francisco "Pancho" Villa attacked the small NM border town and military camp at Columbus. The center of Columbus was a smoking ruin.

- Rockhound State Park
It's on the rugged western slopes of the Little Florida (Floor-EE-dah) Mountains. The volcanic origins are rich in colorful agates, quartz crystals, . . . just a few of the rocks and minerals found here. A rarity, the park allows visitors to collect and keep up to 15 pounds of rocks.

- Spring Canyon Park
Just before you reach Rockhound State Park, turn south at the sign for the park. It sits in a boxed enclosure, giving you a sense of both beauty and isolation.

- St. Clair and Luna Rosa Wineries
Come and enjoy the premier wine area of the Southwest! Both wineries are open to public. The elevation of 4500 feet creates warm days and cool nights. This climate makes it possible to grow some of the best wine grapes in New Mexico. St. Clair Vineyards are just a few miles east of Deming and Luna Rosa is just west of the city.
The Mimbres Valley provides about half of all the wine grapes used in New Mexico wines.
